'LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii' Vinyl Sticker

Benito's 'LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAIi' calls Puerto Ricans and other Indigenous peoples of colonized lands alike to embrace their culture with steadfast determination and resist erasure and displacement now more than ever. By urging us never to forget Lelo Lai, he instills in us not to lose sight of who we are and where we come from. For me, this song evokes a deep sorrow—a sorrow rooted in the recognition of shared histories of loss, cultural suppression, and exploitation experienced by people subjected to imperialist greed. This song highlights the importance of an unwavering commitment to one's values and identity in the pursuit of liberation.
In this design, I use lyrics from the song along with an arrangement of flowers. Each flower represents a resilient nation contesting for release from oppression.
